Custom Machine Embroidery · Clinton Township, MI

A serial hobbyist
who took it too far.

charm, threaded in.

Marisa, founder of Marisa's Stitches Studio

Hi, I'm Marisa.

I picked up embroidery the way I pick up most things — completely, immediately, a little too intensely. It started with needlepoint, moved into hand embroidery, and then a machine entered the picture and things got a lot louder. (I'm also learning to quilt now. The hobbies will not stop. I have accepted this.)

I also work in tech full-time, which meant the second this got real, a website was inevitable. There is now a form. It is extremely organized. I am not sorry about any of it.

Based in Clinton Township — Metro Detroit — and shipping everywhere USPS will take me. Monograms, names, shirts, hats, baby gifts, cocktail napkins, towels. Bring me your half-formed idea, your very specific vision, your "I'll know it when I see it." Every order gets the same thing: care, a few follow-up questions, and a little charm threaded in.

Questions

FAQ

What kinds of items can you embroider?
Hats, beanies, sweatshirts, tees, totes, baby items, towels, cocktail napkins, pouches, robes — basically anything with a surface that can go in a hoop. If you're not sure, just ask.
Do you supply the item, or do I?
You've got three options: bring your own blank, send me an Amazon link and I'll order it for you (item cost + $5 sourcing fee), or choose something from my Studio Stash of ready-to-go blanks. Not sure how the pricing stacks up across each option? The estimator walks you through all three. Just mention which route you'd like in the order form.
How much does embroidery cost?
Embroidery is $15 for names, text, and monograms — $20 for more complex designs with detailed fills. That's per placement. If you need the item too, we'll add that on top. Want a rough number before you commit? Try the pricing estimator — it's not a quote, but it'll give you a solid ballpark. A full written quote always comes before anything starts.
How do I pay?
Cash App, Venmo, cash, or check — whichever works best for you. Payment is due in full before pickup or shipping. I'll always send a written quote first so there are no surprises.
Do you do rush orders?
Sometimes! Mention your deadline and I'll be real with you about whether it's doable. Standard turnaround is . Rush orders that can be accommodated carry a $5 rush fee — or up to $10 for larger orders, depending on what's involved. I'll always be upfront about the fee and timeline before anything starts.
Can you embroider logos or custom artwork?
Yes — I digitize designs for embroidery. Logos and clean illustrations translate really well. Really detailed or gradient-heavy artwork can be tricky to turn into stitches, but I'll always be honest with you about what'll hold up well on fabric. When in doubt, send it over — worst case, we simplify it together and it ends up looking even better.
Do you ship?
Yes! Anywhere in the US, flat $7 (USPS, tracking always included). Local pickup also available in Clinton Township, MI — always free.
What's your return or replacement policy?
Because every order is made just for you, all sales are final. If I mess up — wrong design, wrong placement, something on my end — I'll make it right and replace the item at no charge. But if the error comes from information you provided (a misspelling, wrong initials, incorrect size or color), I'm not able to offer a replacement or refund. That's exactly why I send a mockup before I ever pick up the needle — take your time reviewing it, because once you give the thumbs up, we're locked in!
How do monograms work?
Traditional monograms use three letters — and the order depends on the style. For a block or stacked monogram, it goes First, Middle, Last (so Jane Marie Smith = J M S). For an interlocking or classic Southern monogram, the last name initial goes in the center and is larger — so Jane Marie Smith = J S M. For married couples, it's typically His first, Last, Her first — so John and Jane Smith = J S J. Not sure which style you want? Just tell me the name and I'll ask! Single-letter monograms are also always an option and never go out of style.
Do you do bulk or group orders?
Yes! Bridal parties, baby showers, sports teams, corporate gifts, holiday sets — I love a big order. Group orders of 6+ pieces come with a small discount. Reach out via the order form with what you're thinking and I'll put together a custom quote.
How do I care for an embroidered item?
To keep your embroidery looking sharp: machine wash cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle. Lay flat or hang to dry when possible — high dryer heat can loosen stitching and shrink the fabric over time. Avoid ironing directly on the embroidery; if you need to press it, flip the item inside out first. Treated right, it'll last for years.
What if I have no idea what I want?
Fill out the form anyway. "Something with my dog's name in a fun color" is a completely valid starting point. Vague is welcome. Oddly specific is also welcome.
What if I don't know what font I want?
Browse the Font Catalog on this page — there are 50+ styles organized by category. If nothing feels right, just describe the vibe: "something fancy," "bold and clean," "very old-fashioned." I'll pull a few options for you to pick from. I'm also open to sourcing a new font for the right project — small upcharge may apply.
What if I'm not sure about thread color?
The Thread Catalog on this page has every color I stock — browse by family (greens, pinks, blues, etc.) and name the ones that catch your eye. Not sure? Tell me the general direction: warm neutrals, every shade of pink, something that matches your kitchen. You can also give me two or three colors to choose between and I'll pick what works best with the design.
